The Walking Man: Clayton Klein
Come walk with me: Between Paradise and Hell
It’s a ‘helluva’ trek from Paradise to Hell...for ordinary people. For 90-year-old author and adventurer Clayton Klein of Fowlerville, MI, it’s a matter of  walking... one step at a time.
Klein  plans his fifth annual walk Sept. 4 - 24th  from Paradise on Lake Superior’s Whitefish Bay in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula,  downstate to Hell (a small town in Southeastern Michigan).  The 420 mile walk begins Saturday,  Sept. 4, when he steps forth from Paradise on the long road to Hell. The welcoming committee will be waiting there Sept. 24 at John Colone’sScreams  Ice Cream.
Putting one foot in front of the other for 40 + years, Klein first began walking as a health benefit for an ailing back. Since 2004 he’s walked  the breadth and length of the state. In Sept. 2004 he walked 212 miles in 11 days across the widest part of Michigan. His north to south walks began in 2005. Klein enjoyed that so much, he decided to repeat the same scenic route in 2006 and again in 2007. He appreciated  the wonderful, supportive people who joined him along the way as he walked to raise money for charity.
This year, he hopes to enjoy the company of even more walkers  to raise money for Michigan Hospice. Walkers of all ages are welcome to accompany  him at any point on the walk and for any distance.  Check with your regional Hospice for updates, or the local newspapers in the following counties: Chippewa, Mackinac, Cheboygan, Otsego, Crawford, Roscommon, Clare, Isabella, Gratiot, Clinton, Ingham, Livingston.

This is the site where you can get your official t-shirt to commemorate the walk.
